Rick Callender

Rick Callender began his dance training in Miami, with the New World School for the Arts, and the Martha Mahr School of Ballet. He then moved to Seattle where he trained with Pacific Northwest Ballet. After accepting a position with the Washington Ballet he participated in the Kennedy Center's 25th anniversary, which eventually led to his working with Suzanne Farrell Ballett. Before moving to Philadelphia and becoming a member of Miro Dance Theatre Mr. Callender was also a dancer with Fort Worth Dallas Ballet. Throughout his career, Mr. Callender has had the opportunity to star and perform in works by such prestigious choreographers as Jose Limon, Trey MacIntyre, Kevin O’Day, Stanton Welch, Lila York, and George Balanchine. In addition to his professional ballet career, Mr. Callender has performed with the modern dance company Bruce Wood Dance, been featured on TLC’s A Wedding Story and is an amateur DJ in Philadelphia. In addition to being a company member of Miro Dance Theatre he is currently a principal guest performer with Charleston Ballet, among others, and recently performed in Japan with Miya Taira Dance. Mr. Callender studied on scholarship at Pacific Northwest Ballet, Houston Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet.
